John is the Founder and Chairman of FengHe Group where he is responsible for the strategy and management of the group businesses. He also directly leads our Venture Capital business.
John is a highly accomplished technologist, entrepreneur and investor with pivotal investments and successes spanning three decades. John began his career in Silicon Valley in 1989 most notably leading Yahoo! Inc.’s search and e-commerce technology engineering team from 1996 to 1999 and awarded a patent for his work in “semi-structured search”. He went on to become angel investor and CTO of Alibaba Group in 2000 and saw its growth to become China’s largest technology company.
As an active investor since 2000, John has also identified, invested in and nurtured several promising entrepreneurial companies. For example, he is a co-founder and investor of Huazhu Hotels Group (NASDAQ: HTHT), one of the largest hotel chains in China; angel investor of Focused Photonics (SZSE: 300203), a high tech instrumentation company; and angel investor in Jumei.com (NYSE: JMEI), an e-commerce company in the beauty sector. John was a Venture Partner at Northern Light Venture Capital (AUM of USD1bn) from 2008 to 2010. He was named China Angel Investor of the Year 2014 by Entrepreneur, China edition.
Passionate about sharing his experience and knowledge, John is a regular guest speaker at high profile conferences and colleges (e.g., Harvard Business School, National University of Singapore, Techventure).
John graduated from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science with High Distinction.

Matt is the Founder and CEO of FengHe Group where he is responsible for the strategy and management of the group businesses. He also directly leads our Hedge Funds business.
Matt is a highly successful professional investor with decades of investment and economics experience across various industries in Asia and is considered by many of his peers as the pioneer institutional asset manager in China. He is a forward-thinking economist and seasoned investor with tremendous understanding of the cross-intricacies of social, economic and political landscapes in Greater China. With his systematic approach in investment and trading, Matt had successfully achieved top return on investment, even during bear years in the absence of hedging instruments.
Between 1991 and 2005, Matt held key management positions in several leading investments and asset management firms in Greater China. Matt was Head of Asset Management and Investment Committee at China Securities, a top 3 China securities firm where he over-saw one of the largest equity portfolios. He also served as Chairman and CIO for Taifook Century Management in Hong Kong in 2004, which he co-founded.
Matt graduated from Renmin University with a BSc in Economics. He was a member of the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford EMBA.

Hyen Yong is the Managing Director of FengHe Group where he is responsible for the strategy and management of the group businesses.
Hyen Yong has extensive professional experience in Asian capital markets spanning fund management, direct equity investments, investment banking and financial assurance. He leads and manages the investments of FengHe’s existing private funds, as well as oversees the corporate functions of FengHe Group. He joined FengHe in late 2010 and has been instrumental in helping FengHe grow into a leading Asian investment platform.
Prior to FengHe Group, Hyen Yong was Vice President at the investment banking division of Kim Eng Securities Group (now known as Maybank Kim Eng Investment Bank), specialising in corporate finance and advisory transactions. He built up an extensive track record of advising and managing investments and other corporate finance transactions across Asia. Beginning his career in KPMG as a KPMG Scholar, Hyen Yong specialised in the financial assurance services of banks and financial institutions such as HSBC, as well as in the audit of several listed companies.
Hyen Yong is a Chartered Accountant under the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. He graduated with Bachelor of Accountancy Degree, First Class Honours, from Nanyang Business School, Singapore. He also received the KPMG Scholarship Award for his university studies.
Hyen Yong served with distinction in the Singapore Armed Forces. He was a Company Commander in an Armour unit. In Officer Cadet School, he was awarded the Sword of Merit when he graduated amongst the top few of his cohort.
Mr Li is an accomplished investor and capital markets veteran with more than 25 years of experience. He joined F&H in 2013 to help grow its venture capital and private equity businesses. Prior to F&H, he was the founder and director of Bonanza Investment Fund where he focused on strategic equity investment and post-investment value-added services. Over his investment career, Mr Li led and managed many successful investments with high returns.
Mr Li is also a passionate philanthropist and has been the Vice Chairman, Supervisory Board of the China Council of Lions Clubs since 2015, and was President of the Beijing Lions Clubs between 2008 and 2009. He was recently elected the inaugural president of alumni association of China Global Philanthropy Institute (CGPI) which was co-established and partially funded by Bill Gates, and had been chosen to go to Harvard University Kennedy School of Government’s Impact Investing course. He is an avid marathoner that has successfully completed the Grand Slam of the six leading marathons across the globe under the World Marathon Majors.
Mr Li completed his EMBA at Guanghua School of Management, Peking University and graduated from Renmin University of China with a Bachelor degree in Economics.

Rebecca has extensive equity market experience across Europe and Asia. She has held various positions in operations, middle office, equity finance, and business development.
Prior to joining F&H, she was running business development for hedge fund manager Stephen Diggle at Vulpes Investment Management. Before that, she was with Stephen at Asia’s then largest hedge fund, Artradis Fund Management, where she was involved in business development and investor relations.
Prior to her relocation to Singapore in 2008, Rebecca was responsible for Asia ex-Japan equity financing to hedge fund clients at Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong. Previously, Rebecca worked at Brevan Howard Asset Management in London where she set up and managed the equity finance desk supporting the multi-strategy, global equity business across London, New York and Hong Kong. She was also instrumental in setting up the equity operations and middle office functions for their then newly-conceived equity business. Her career began in London on the Goldman Sachs graduate program.
Rebecca graduated from London School of Economics and Political Science with a BSc (Honours) in Business Mathematics and Statistics.

Alex is Director, Head of Real Estate of FengHe Group.
Alex has deep and broad-based experience in the real estate fund management industry at top-tier firms. He has over 12 years of experience in acquisition, asset management and fund management across both the opportunistic and core risk-return spectrum. He has led transactions of over USD2.6 billion across Asia, Australia and UK, spanning the office, retail, industrial, hotel and residential sectors.
Prior to joining FengHe Group, Alex was Vice President at the Alternatives and Real Asset division of Deutsche Bank, specialising in acquisitions and asset management. In his earlier years, Alex worked at LaSalle Investment Management and ARA Asset Management in acquisition and fund management roles.
Alex graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Economics and Statistics.

Rafael is Director, Head of Quant Funds of FengHe Group.
Rafael is a seasoned quant developer with extensive experience in developing diversified systematic strategies, both price-related and fundamental-driven utilising a multitude of asset classes including securities, bonds, currencies and commodities.
Rafael joined F&H at our Singapore office in 2015 to launch and run the FengHe Quant Fund, an Asia-focused long/short quantitative strategy. Prior to joining F&H, he was the founder and CEO of A.M Yahlomi Investments Ltd in Israel where Rafael developed quant strategies for Psagot & Altshuler Shaham, the largest financial institution in Israel. Further to his work in this area the firm launched several listed mutual funds on the Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange based on his algorithmic strategies.
Rafael served as an officer (retiring Major) in the Israeli intelligence unit for approximately 8 years. He graduated from Open University, Israel, with a BA in Economics and Accounting (cum laude). He received his MBA in Finance from Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Currently Rafael is a PhD candidate in Economics focusing on asset pricing research with Peloponnese University in Greece.
